The Minister of Public Order, Mr. George Voulgarakis, stated the following after the conclusion of the demonstration for the 32nd anniversary since the Polytechnic School events:<\/p>\n
\u0384\u0384This year we witnessed the calmest demonstration ever as to the events at the Polytechnic School 32 years ago.<\/p>\n
The demonstration?s peaceful and celebrating nature has been protected, as is indeed appropriate in a democratic state.<\/p>\n
The citizens had the opportunity to participate without hindrances to the celebration, honoring this day.<\/p>\n
The forces of the Police operated with professionalism, method, coordination and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n
I would like to congratulate them for this.<\/p>\n
I would also like to point out the very good cooperation we had with all competent bodies for the organization of this demonstration.<\/p>\n
In this way, both the Police Force and the citizens managed to achieve a very good result, which is of paramount importance.\u0384\u0384
\nResponding to a question by a journalist regarding the incidents in Thessalonica, Mr. Voulgarakis stated the following:<\/p>\n
Thessalonica is a special case due to the location of the University in the city.<\/p>\n
Besides, the leaders of these small-scale incidents did not participate in the demonstration but had been staying inside the University since noon, a place where the Police Force could not intervene.<\/p>\n
